Should You Worry About All The Little Things Of Email?

I was once asked this question in a podcast interview.

“What is one thing you wish you knew when you started email copywriting?”

I sat there thinking for a good few minutes partially because there were so many things I wish I knew. It’s hard to choose one.

Then after a minute of complete silence, I decided to give my answer:

The one thing I wish I knew when I started email copywriting was that it was unnecessary to think about all the little things that other people worry about when it comes to email. I used to stress over all the little things like:

What’s the best day to send my emails?

What’s the best time to send?

How often should you send emails?

Fancy email vs plain text.

The subject line, title case or sentence case?

Hyperlink URLS or leave them as is?

And here’s why it’s completely unnecessary to think about these things.

The entire point of emailing your readers, besides making sales for your business, is to build a relationship with them.

When it comes to building relationships, the most important thing is to talk to them (Nicely, of course), and keeping consistent contact.

So it doesn’t matter what day or time you send them emails, if the emails are fancy or not, or how the subject line looks.

As long as you keep talking to them about interesting and helpful things, which I do go into in my book, How to Become an Email Titan.
